My philosophy of therapy is humanist, believing that every person is worthy of dignity, love, and fulfillment in their life. Therapy provides an affirming, compassionate relationship for clients to learn more about themselves, explore choices, and better understand how they relate to the world around them. Through acceptance, curiosity, and discussion, I join with clients to support them in discovering their own potential, explore areas of growth, and identify the strengths and wisdoms they already carry with them. I believe therapy should be flexible and dynamic enough to support clients who are facing particular struggles or challenges, but also allow room for reflection, wonder, and imagination.
My therapeutic style is warm, reflective, and understanding. I especially enjoy working with clients during transitional points, and help enlist their own strengths to bring about sustainable changes in their lives. I believe clients begin therapy from unique, subjective experiences, which serve as the starting point for change. I aim to empathize with your experiences, help you learn from them, and support you in reaching your goals. I will work with you to cultivate a greater kindness and compassion for yourself and your circumstances as you move towards wholeness and wellness. I tend to be directive and goal oriented in session, drawing from Solution Focused and Motivational Interviewing approaches to help clients harness their own expertise, strengths, and capacity for growth.

Today is “National Coming Out Day”, an annual event to celebrate and “come out of the closet” as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. It’s also a time to stand in solidarity with those who may not yet be ready to come out, and to remember that there’s still a long way to go when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights. IntraSpectrum Counseling is proud to commemorate this special day and we encourage LGBTQ+ folks, friends, family & allies to celebrate in your own way. And even if coming out doesn’t feel safe or comfortable, know that you always have our support. Click here for more info on NCOD, how to support / celebrate NCOD and resources for coming out.
