Clinical Compensation Overview

At IntraSpectrum Counseling, taking good care of our Clinicians is very important to us. One way we do this is by ensuring a level of financial stability and regularity in how we compensate our Therapists. Review this page for info on how IntraSpectrum Counseling offers a competitive compensation package that’s flexible, transparent, and designed with our Therapists in mind.

The Benefits of a Comp Model, with Built-in Stability
Lots of psychotherapy practices only pay monthly, using a pure split-fee (or commission) model. In contrast, we use a “draw against commission” model to compensate all of our Therapists – independently licensed, clinical supervisors, and unlicensed / provisionally licensed. With this model, Clinicians get an advance on the commission they will earn and, we can ensure that IntraSpectrum Clinicians:

  • Get a weekly paycheck while their caseload is first ramping up
  • Get paid even when sick or during personal time off
  • Have a reliable income stream, regardless of insurance companies’ session reimbursement timeline

Our “draw against commission” model ensures that ISC Therapists have a regular weekly income – providing some stability and easing the financial anxieties of a typical monthly split-fee payment. And IntraSpectrum Counseling clinicians earn just as much under our model as they would under a “standard” split-fee model that only pays once a month.

Calculate Your Compensation

  • Scroll down to view the appropriate Compensation Table (by licensure type), for Base Salary & Split-Fee rates
  • For help reading the fields in the Compensation Tables, see the “How-To” section at the bottom of the page
  • Click the appropriate colored Button (blue or orange) within that licensure type for the Earnings Example. Note that the final compensation figure you see includes the Base Salary (what you were advanced during the course of the year)

How the Model Works

  • Under the IntraSpectrum model, Clinicians are paid a weekly advance according to their Base Salary (see applicable Compensation Table below), and twice a month they receive their split-fee (or commission) payment
  • The previously-paid advance is deducted from the split-fee, and the remaining amount is paid out to the Clinician
  • We reserve any benefit deductions for commission payment dates, with the goal of maximizing the income a Clinician receives

How to Read the Compensation Tables

  • 2nd Column / Base Salary (Draw): this is the amount we advance you over the course of a calendar year. To see your weekly pay (before deductions for taxes/benefits), divide that number by 52
  • 2nd  Row / Kept & Collected Sessions Columns: this is the number of kept sessions you conduct during the calendar year (including sliding scale appointments).
  • Fee Split Percentages: these are the rates (percentages) at which you are compensated for kept/collected sessions (based on number of years post-licensure and total number of kept/collected sessions per calendar year)
