I firmly believe that there have always been healers who exist outside of our direct lives, long before the word therapist was invented. I believe that these healers have always existed because life always has the potential to cause us pain or confusion that we need extra guidance or support to navigate. As a therapist, I want to shine a light on the environments, relationships, and patterns you experience in order to cultivate the long term change needed in order for you to feel happy, fulfilled, and at peace in your life.
When you enter the therapy room with me, I want you to be able to let go of all of the burdens of expectations that have been weighing on you from the outside world. These burdens can look like a lot of things from depression, to anxiety, to trauma, to unhealthy relationships. In each session, as you are ready, we’ll take a look at each of these things that put weight on to you so that collaboratively we can explore them to determine what things you wish to keep, change, or let go of completely. Learning the skills to sustain, make, or accept change is another important part of therapy with me. Most importantly, I want us to work towards first creating a safe space in the room, and slowly teaching you how to take that safe space with you as you go back out into the real world.

Today, July 26th, is National Disability Independence Day. This annual commemoration marks the day in 1990 when the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law. The ADA enshrined several crucial civil rights protections for individuals with disabilities, but it still falls short of its intended goals after over 30 years on the books.
