I take a client-centered focus in therapy; meaning I believe you are the expert of your experience. As a trauma-informed therapist, I think it is important to meet you where you are with the recognition that healing and growth are not linear. I approach this by building a strong therapeutic relationship. This relationship develops into a trust where you and I can work collaboratively for you to make the desired change you’re seeking.
Clients can expect warmth, compassion, realness, and a collaborative non-judgmental approach to building and prioritizing a positive therapeutic alliance. A strong therapeutic relationship allows for the creation of a safe space to begin a path of healing, growth, and hope. As a trauma-informed and culturally humble clinician, my aim for a client session is to meet each client where they are to ensure that the client feels comfortable and supported while doing the work of therapy. Successful therapy is like wayfinding. It’s seeing where you’re going in your mind. Knowing where you are by knowing where you’ve been. This happens in partnership together as client and therapist.
