Avi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at IntraSpectrum Counseling. Avi believes that everyone struggles with navigating a world that is very often unkind, confusing, and overwhelming. Avi also believes that every individual has the innate capacity to heal from the pain that is part and parcel of this human life. As a therapist, Avi is eager to join clients from a place of openness and compassion in exploring and navigating their own unique paths to wellness.
As a social worker with over 15 years of experience, Avi has supported individuals from many different backgrounds. Avi’s passion lies in working with adolescents, young adults, people of color, queer and trans/gender expansive individuals, and parents/caregivers of LGBTQ youth. Their areas of expertise include trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. Avi’s approach to engaging clients is grounded in client-centered, LGBTQ-affirmative, harm-reductionist, strength’s-based, relational, feminist, and mindfulness-based interventions.
Prior to joining IntraSpectrum, Avi supported LGBTQ youth in their role as the Director of Youth Services at Center on Halsted. In addition to their work with IntraSpectrum, Avi provides consulting services to individuals and organizations throughout Chicago. Avi earned their Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University in New York City.
