IntraSpectrum offers several psychotherapy and support groups, which foster connections with others in the community and strengthen communication skills. Clients can elect to join one of our groups as an adjunct to their individual or couples therapy, however clients are invited to participate regardless of whether they are currently seeing an IntraSpectrum therapist for individuals or couples therapy. Typically, clients will attend an initial consultation with a group leader prior to joining so that they may gain a better sense of what they might expect from the group and to identify some goals they may want to achieve through their participation. An initial consultation is not necessary for one or two occasion groups.
We are currently accepting participants in all groups. BCBS PPO accepted, and out of network options available. Contact us today to learn more.
Gender Experience Group
Exploring one’s gender presentation in a binary gender culture can be difficult enough, and it can be an even greater challenge to physically express one’s true gender identity. This process is often complicated by layers of guilt and shame about one’s genuine gender experience, leading to isolation and interfering with a sense of belonging in both the LGBTQIA community and society in general.
Our Gender Experience group is designed to provide a sense of community in a safe space wherein clients may freely explore their gender identity and express themselves in ways their current lives may not allow. In group, members practice sharing feelings openly and honestly, build meaningful relationships with other group members, and develop greater self-esteem and confidence in authentically expressing themselves and their gender experience.
This group is facilitated on Thursdays by Rena McDaniel, LPC, and Iggy V Ladden, LCSW and on Saturdays by Deb Zutty, LCPC, CADC and Allayna Fern Pinkston, PsyD.
Thursdays, 6:35-7:50pm, Downtown.
Saturdays (Starting again Oct 8th, 2016), 11:00am-12:15pm, in Andersonville.

LGBTQI-Affirming Men’s Group
This group is an ongoing interpersonal process group open to male-identified members of the LGBTQI community. Participants in this group are men who have identified an interpersonal goal that they would like to address such as forming and maintaining friendships, improving men’s capacity for closeness with others, and fostering healthy relationships. Group members can expect sessions to focus on giving and receiving genuine and constructive feedback to one another about the ways in which members are perceived and ways in which members’ ways of communicating promote or sometimes hinder more meaningful relationships. This group is facilitated by one male and one female identified therapist whose job it is to help group members share more openly, provide structure, and ensure that members feel welcome and safe.
This group is facilitated by Ian Bonner, PsyD.
Tuesdays from 7:00-8:15pm in Andersonville.
